The Reservation System although gave citizenship rights to the  American Indian communities, but it made their lives even harder. This system was created to promote the Indians to live within the defined Zones or Borders. The U.S Government ensured to provide them(American Indian tribes) with all their basics requirements and that the Government is pledged for their protection. Even some Teachers and the Protestant Ministers felt that urging the Indians to survive in a defined area, would make it accessible for them to “Civilize the Savages”. Even the natives found themselves restricted to the reservations.  And this later ended up on an extremely smaller reservation.

Clashes over the land was quite a common problem during the European colonization and therefore a reservation system was framed to make sure that the Native Americans had no power related to the land matters on which the European Americans wish to settle down. It was in 1887 that this system came to an end called the Dawes Act.
