In the yellow autumnal woods, two roads diverged into two directions. Both of the roads were covered with the dried fallen leaves. They were no travellers on either road yet thus they had not been blackened. Among the two, one was frequently used by the travellers whereas, the other one was not a popular choice. The roads here are symbolic of choices in life.
The poet had to choose one of the two options or roads. He left the one which was a popular choice and decided to take the ‘other’ road which was less frequented and travelled by the people. The ‘other’ road had a better claim as it was grassy indicating prosperous and less explored. It invited the people to walk on it.
