The value of (4a₈+5a₃) = 611

Given:

a_{n} = 2n² + 1

To find:

The value of 4a₈ + 5a₃

Solution:

Given that nth term in sequence = 2n² + 1

The 8th term a₈

⇒ a₈ = 2(8)² + 1  = 2(64) + 1 = 128 + 1 = 129

⇒ 4a₈ = 4(129) = 516

The 3rd term a₃

⇒ a₃ = 2(3)² + 1 =  2(9) + 1 = 18 + 1 = 19

⇒ 5a₃ = 5(19) = 95

4a₈ + 5a₃   = 516 + 95 = 611

The value of (4a₈+5a₃) = 611
