Votes cast for independent guy = 900
no. of votes democrat guy got=  900+ 1/3*900
                                                 =900+300=1200
No. of votes republic guy got= 3/2*1200=1800
therefore ans=1800

Ramcharan: I hope its ryt....

Answer:

1,800

Step-by-step explanation:

According to question given that , The Republican candidate in the Shelbyville race garnered 1.5 times as many votes as the Democrat. Compared to the independent candidate, the Democrat candidate earned a third more votes. The independent candidate received 900 votes.

If the Independent candidate earned 900 votes, then the Democratic candidate must have gotten (900 + 300) 1200 votes. A total of (1200 + 600) 1800 votes must have been cast for the Republican candidate.
