In the Short Story An Angel in Disguise What caused the author T.S Arthur to write the story??

The reason for the writer to write this story was that how a disabled child is neglected and considered a burden for everyone. The story is all about a disabled girl Maggie who was latter considered an angel for a family named Mr and Mrs Joe Thompson
