in the story, If I Were You, Gerrad is more intelligent and smarter than Intruder as he did not get trapped into the plan of Intruder. instead, the Intruder was wrapped by Gerrard in a very clever and a very unique way.also, Gerrard did not panic in such a difficult situation where he could be killed also, he remained calm and tried to solve the problem in which he was being trapped by the Intruder. intruder took himself to be the smarter one but in reality Gerrard was the smarter and the cleverer one. intruder thought about him being smarter as he had also collected information about Gerrard before coming to the cottage.
