Terenty was aware of the nature and its cures. He believed that nature has no secrets. He used to talk about the swarming bees, grass, trees and many more. He knew about the wonders of every shrub and herb. At one point, he compared a sparrow and nightingale and related them to the world of man that a nightingale is given a golden voice and the sparrow is representing a pick-pocket. Therefore, he gained the gift of nature by comparing it to a man's life.

In the story ‘A Day in the Country’ written by Anton Chekhov, Terenty was able to recognise the gift of Nature from his days spent in the woods, fields and the river bank.

So he knew everything about the animals, birds, insects, wild flowers, trees, herbs and stones.

He could predict the upcoming weather, just by looking at the sunset, moon and the behaviour of the birds.
