In the story "The Surgeon" by Roald Dahl, which aspects of the story make it humorous?
Answers
Some of the humorous aspects of the story 'The Surgeon' are:
1. Dr. Robert Sandy received a diamond as a reward for saving the life of a Saudi Arabian prince. The diamond was worth a million dollars. When they were going out for a weekend they decided to freeze the diamond into an ice cube tray in order to hide it from the thieves.
2. Another surgeon performed an operation on a young man and found the diamond which was lodged in his intestine. He and a nurse went to the local jeweller to have it appraised. There the jeweller recognized that it was the same diamond which belonged to Dr. Sandy. So the surgeon and the nurse were arrested.
3. When they all went back to the hospital to catch the thief they came to know that the young hooligan had made himself a drink in Dr. Sandy's house and had swallowed the ice cube.
