The movement is known as a seismonastic movement.

It is the curling of leaves due to the osmotic pressure.

The movements occurs due to the turgor pressure which is the force applied to the cell wall by the water in the cell vacuoles.

When the plants are disturbed some regions of the stems are required to release the chemicals including the potassium ions which forces the water out of the vacuoles of the cells.

⚫Explain nastic movements?

▶️Nastic movements are non directional responses to stimuli such as temperature and heat.

▶️These kind of movements do not depend on direction of stimulus such as seismonastic, chemonastic, etc.

▶️Nastic movements can be both growth-dependent or growth-independent.

▶️Example of growth independent nastic movement is thigmonastic movement by leaves of Mimosa Pudica.

▶️Example of growth dependent movement is growth-based epinastic curvature in sunflower petioles.
