Trade winds: The air that from the subtropical high pressure region is deflected by the Coriolis effect.

These winds flow in the direction to the west of the Equator in both the hemispheres.

They blow mostly from the northeast and from the southeast in both the hemispheres.

Reason: There are various wind patterns in the atmosphere.

The trade winds exist in the atmosphere that lies above the tropics.

They tend to push air towards the equator. The tropical desert climate lies in the equatorial region.

And so the air warms, loses moisture and rises.

Hence, In the tropical desert climate region, trade winds are dry.

Answer:

Trade winds are dry because the excessive heat in the desert region expand the capacity of air to hold more moisture as a result of which even if the wind contains some moisture it doesn't shed it over the particular region.
