The world outside is too harsh. Just having a talent will not help, a talented person should also be smart enough to know where to utilize his talent to get maximum rewards.
Like in the poem the frog and the nightingale. Nightingale was so talented, she sung beautifully but she was naive and agreed to whatever the cunning frog told her. She had talent but was not wise enough to use it and so she died in the end.
