In the year 2000, rice formed is 20 % of the total food grain production in a country .In the next year, the total food grain production increased by by 20% and the rice production was 25% of the total food grain production. What is the increase in the production of rice from 2000 to 2001

Then the grain production in 2000 :

$\dfrac{20}{100} \times x$

$= 0.2x$

✰ let the production in 2001 be x + 0.2x

==> 1.2x

the rice production was 25% of the total food grain production...

The production of grain in 2001 is :

$0.25 \times 1.2 x = 0.3x$

Percentage change...

$\dfrac{0.3x - 0.2x}{0.2} \times 100$

==> 50%

Hence, the percentage change is 50%
