I like to use the paper and large bound dictionary at home, it is a Webster’s College Edition. While I usually read through digital dictionaries and their definitions from Dictionary.com or Merriam Webster on my iPhone. I prefer the bound one when I want to touch the paper, while I use the digital ones for ease of access anywhere. While I have dictionaries from Cambridge and Oxford, I don’t regularly use them because I would rather have dictionaries from America and are common to college. If I was going to do more elite vocabulary development and diction, I would study an index of word roots from Latin and Greek, while also studying word sense from the digital dictionaries of these very old English universities. I would say most reading when doing long term has become digitized, and people can read from such applications as Kindle or other digital readers. I still like to buy hard bound and paper books, because I like the feeling of reading the book. I sometimes read digital books on my computer, or can do so on my iPhone, however I have not gotten used to this form of the written language. For most activities online, they are all digital and mediated and interpreted on computer systems, so it is only going to be a now to a few more generations before people prefer to mostly read digital books. What goes for books also applies to dictionaries.
