Due to exchange of ions between the 2 substances. A white precipitate of barium sulphate is formed.


BaCl2 + Na2SO4 → BaSO4 + 2NaCl

BaSO4 is insoluble in water.

NaCl dissolves in water.

BaSO4 is Barium Sulphate
