In this sonnet 'not marble nor the gilded monuments' what does the poet says about the vanity of rich men?

The sonnet describes time as rude n unstoppable n says that everthing will be destroyed with time which is power of time

But according to the poet his verses will last till the day of judgement

The poet says that rich men try to get their  statues erected  and monuments made so that they would be remembered  forever  ,but none of these survive the ravages  of time and men are forgotten.
