In thisCuSO4.5H2O → CuSO4+ 5H2O what is the meaning of .5H2O

5H20 is the know as the water of crystallization. When the solution dries and forms salt, it may seem dry but it actually contains some traces of water. This is the reason why copper sulphate has has blueish tint.
