In three weeks, Raj's favorite store is having a sale on jeans. All jeans will be 50% off the regular price. Raj also has a coupon that will give him 30% off his total purchase. "Yay, 80% off!" he exclaims. He wants to buy one pair of jeans that is regularly $50, one pair that is regularly $30, and one pair that is regularly $20. Raj calculated how much money, to the nearest dollar, he will need for his jeans and plans to save the next three weeks until he has enough for the jeans. His calculations are shown below.

Regularly price total: $50 + $30 + $20 = $100

i will pay 100% - 80% - 20% of the price.

Total price after the discount = $100 x 0.20 = $20

Raj thinks he needs to save about $7 each week to have enough money in 3 weeks' time.

Raj made a mistake when calculating how much money he will need to buy the jeans. Describe his mistake. Then, figure out how much he will need for the jeans and decide on a new savings plan. About how much will raj need to save each week to be able to afford his jeans?

How did you discover and explain raj's mistake?

Answer :-

Here ,Raj Got A discount of 80% on his jeans

But he is calculating 100%-80%= 20%.

Altogether jeans cost about 100 dollar if he take 20% of 100 dollar he have to pay :-

20 \div 100 \times 100 \\

=20 dollar less , 100 dollar which is 80 dollar so he is in a problem due to wrong calculation.

And, To collect 80 dollar in 3 week

1 week = 80/3

=26.67 dollar

= approx. 27 dollar a week.

So, Here Raj have to collect 27 dollar a week.

  • He is not able to determine % off on jeans.
  • His mistakes is in some calculations.
  • He have To Save 27 dollar a week.
