Explanation:

mRNA is synthesised in the nucleus, but it crosses and travels in the cytoplasm. There are multiple reactions going on in the cytoplasm all the time.  The mRNA carries important information that is involved in the synthesis of protein molecules. If any error occurs during the process, a faulty protein can be formed which might lead to diseases.

So to keep the structure of the mRNA intact, capping of the mRNA molecule is done. A 7-methylguanylate group is attached at the 5' end.
