Answer:

HERE IS YOUR ANSWER

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the trapezium ABCD have the top and bottom sides being parallel (AB and CD) - top (AB) = 60 cm, bottom (CD) = 90 cm, left side (AD) = 40 cm, and the right side (BC) = 50 cm. The left and right sides(AD and BC) , 40 and 50 cm respectively are non parallel.

Drop perpendiculars from A onto CD. Call it P.

Drop perpendiculars from B onto CD. Call it Q.

Thus,

AD^2 = AP^2 + PD^2

1600 = AP^2 + PD^2 ......(X)

Also,

BC^2 = BQ^2 + QC^2

Since AP = BQ,

2500 = AP^2 + QC^2

Also since QC = 30 - PD,

2500 = AP^2 + (30-PD)^2 .....(Y)

Subtracting X from Y,

900 = 900 + PD^2 - 60*PD - PD^2

=> PD = 0.

=> QC = 30.

Therefore, distance between the two lines = 40 cm.

Therefore the area of the trapezium = 1/2 * (90 + 60) * 40

= 75*40 = 3000 sq cm.
