Given in the triangle ABC , A=(5, 8) and D is the mid point of side BC and D=(2, - 1).

The line AD will be a median as the line joining the vertex and the midpoint of the opposite side is a median.

The centroid will divide the median AD in the ratio 2:1.

Let the coordinates of the centroid be equal to (x,y).

Using the section formula to find the centroid -

x = (2 × 2 + 1 × 5)/3 = 3

y = (2 × -1 + 1 × 8)/3 = 2

The coordinates of the median of the triangle ABC are (3,2).
