Length of AM is 4.3467 cm.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

              In triangle ABC, side AB is equal to  7.2 cm.

              Side BC  is equal to 4.8 cm.

              Side AL is perpendicular to side BC.

              Side CM is prrpendicular to side BC.

                              AB = 7.2 cm

                              BC = 4.8 cm

                              Al ⊥ BC

                              CM ⊥ AB

Using pythagoras theorm, we get,

                  ⇒ BC^{2} = MC^{2} + MB^{2}

                   ⇒ BM = \sqrt{BC^{2}- MC^{2}  }

                   ⇒ BM = \sqrt{4.8^{2} - 4^{2}  }

                   ⇒ BM = 2.653 cm

 So, side AM is the difference of MB from BM.

                   ⇒ AM = AB - MB,

                    ⇒ AM = 7.2 - 2.653

                               = 4.3467 cm
