Okay so here is your answer

U need to apply Pythagoras theorem

Take 2 triangles - triangle ABD (angle D is 90) ; n triangle ACD(angle D is 90)

So u will get :

In triangle ABD,

AB^2= AD^2+BD^2

AD^2=AB^2-BD^2 -----equation 1

In triangle ACD,

AC^2=AD^2+CD^2

AD^2=AC^2-CD^2 -------equation 2

From equations 1 n 2 we get that

AB^2-BD^2=AC^2-CD^2

But BD is greater than CD n so it can b understood that AB is greater than AC coz "AB-something greater is equal to AC - something smaller"
