In triangle ABC, AD is the bisector of angle BAC. Prove that AB is greater than BD.

Answer:

If AD is the bisector of angle A of triangle ABC, show that AB > DB

Given : AD si the bisector of angle A of triangle ABC.

Hence, angle DAB = angle DAC

angle BDA is the exterior angle of the ΔDAC.

Hence, angle BDA > angle DAC

or angle BDA > angle DAB

Since, angle DAC = angle DAB

=> AB > BD (In a triangle sides opposite to greater angle is greater) .
