In triangle ABC, Ad is the internal bisector of angle a, ab=xcm,ac=5cm, bd=4.2cm and cd=3.5cm find the value of x?

Answer:
By Pythagoras theorem
AD² + CD² = AC²
AD ² + (3.5)² = 5 ²
AD = √25 - 12.25
AD = √12.75
AD = 3.58
Now area of ∆ = ½*b*h
= ½*7.7*3.58
= 27.566 (approx)
