Given  :   In triangle abc and pqr, angle b = Angle q, angle r = angle c and ab = 2qr.

To Find :  triangle is

A. Similar but not congruent

B. Neither congruent nor similar

Solution:

Triangle ABC   and Triangle PQR

∠B = ∠Q

∠C = ∠R

∠A = ∠P  ( because if two angles are equal then third angle is also equal )

=> ΔABC  ≈ ΔPQR   ( AAA similarity criteria)

=> AB/PQ = BC/QR  =  AC / PR  = k

k = 1 then triangles are congruent

ab = 2qr  does not give any information

triangle can be congruent  or not

can not be decided

AB = 6

BC = 3

AC = 7

PQ = 6

QR = 3

PR = 7

ΔABC  ≅ ΔPQR

Congruent triangle  also AB = 2 QR

case 2

AB = 12

BC = 12

AC = 14

PQ = 6

QR = 6

PR =  7

AB = 2 QR

ΔABC  is not congruent to  ΔPQR

ΔABC  ≈ ΔPQR   is confirmed but nothing can be concluded about congruent

so from given options:

Similar but not congruent  - best option.
