In triangle ABC, BAC = 90 and AD perpendicular to BC, If AD = BD = 4 cm, then what is the length

of CD ?

length of perpendicular (I.eAD) is given by

AD2 =BC×DC

6×6=4×DC

DC=3×3=9CM

Thus,

BC= BD+DC= 4+9= 13cm
