In Triangle ABC, D & E are points on sides AB &AC respectively such that DE || BC

a) If AD = x
DB = x-2
AE = x+2
EC = x-1...find x and all the sides

b) If AD = 2.5cm
BD = 3.7cm
find AC...

AD/DB = AE/EC

x/x- 2 = x+ 2/x - 1

x(x - 1) = x+ 2(x - 2)

x² - x = x² - 2x + 2x - 4

- x = -4

x = 4

x = AD = 4

DB = x - 2 = 4- 2= 2

AE = x +2 = 4 + 2 = 6

EC = x - 1 = 4 - 1 = 3
