Solution: Since, DE || BC so by Thales'Theorem,

  • AD/DB = AE/EC

➬ AD = (AB – BD)

➬ AD = (15 – 6) = 9 cm

Let AE be x cm so EC will be (25 –x) cm.

Now, Putting values on theorem

\implies{\rm } AD/DB = AE/EC

\implies{\rm } 9/6 = x/25 x

\implies{\rm } 9(25 x) = 6x

\implies{\rm } 225 9x = 6x

\implies{\rm } 225 = 6x + 9x

\implies{\rm } 225 = 15x

\implies{\rm } 15 = x = AE

Hence, meaure of AE is x = 15 cm.a
