In triangle ABC, if angle B = 90° and BD is perpendicular to AC, AB = 3 cm and BC 4 cm, then BD =?

Answer:

Area of Triangle =(1/2)×Base×height

=(1/2)×AB×BC

=(1/2)×3×4

=6cm²

Pythagoras theorem

AB²+BC²=AC²

3²+4²=AC²

AC=5

Now if we take take BD as Height and AC as Base the area will still remain same.

=>(1/2)×BD×AC=6cm²

=(1/2)×BD×5=6cm²

=(1/2)×BD=1.2cm

=BD=1.2×2

=BD=2.4cm
