Given:

In ΔABC if DE ║ BC, AD/DB=3/4 and AC=15cm

To Find:

AE = ?

Solution:

Since DE is parallel to BC, the ratio of their sides is equal

\frac{AD}{AB}  = \frac{AE}{AC}                    - (1)

We know that,

AB = AD + DB = 3 + 4 = 7

The first ratio can be written as the following:

 \frac{3}{7}  = \frac{AE}{15}

This can be simplified as

AE = \frac{15 * 3}{7} = \frac{45}{7} = 6.42

Hence, we get the final value of AE equal to 6.42 cm
