Considering the triangles ΔABC  and ΔAPQ

∠P=∠B  ....corresponding angles of  parallel lines PQ and BC.

∠Q=∠C....corresponding angles of  parallel lines PQ and BC.

∠A=∠A  

So, by AAA  similarity  

ΔABC  ∼  ΔAPQ

the lengths of the corresponding sides of two similar triangles are proportional.
