Applying Pythagoras theorem

Hypotenuse² = Perpendicular² + Base²

if ,

  • PQ = Base = 6
  • PR = Perpendicular = 5
  • QR = Hypotenuse = 4

Then ,

  • QR² = PR² + PQ²
  • PQ² = QR² - PR²
  • PQ² = 4² - 5²
  • PQ² = 16 - 25
  • PQ² = - 9

In another way ,

  • PQ² = 6² = 36
