Applying Pythagoras theorem
Hypotenuse² = Perpendicular² + Base²
if ,
- PQ = Base = 6
- PR = Perpendicular = 5
- QR = Hypotenuse = 4
Then ,
- QR² = PR² + PQ²
- PQ² = QR² - PR²
- PQ² = 4² - 5²
- PQ² = 16 - 25
- PQ² = - 9
In another way ,
- PQ² = 6² = 36
