Here at vertex Z, there is right angle

Therefore,

By pythagoras theorem

( {xy}^{2} ) = ( {xz}^{2} ) +(  {zy}^{2} )

Putting values,

( {13}^{2} ) = ( {12}^{2} ) + ( {zy)}^{2}

169 = 144

169 = 144 + ( {zy}^{2} )

169 - 144 = ( {zy)}^{2}

( {zy}^{2} ) = 25

zy =  \sqrt{25}

zy = 5cm

Hope it helps you

Answer:Given,

XY= 13cm

XZ=12cm

YZ=?

YZ=(XY)- (XZ)

=(13)- 12)cm

=169-144cm

=25cm

=25=5×5
