a+b+c = 1/2
b+c = 3/10

therefore,
a + 3/10 = 1/2
a = 1/2 - 3/10
a = 1/5

so a can finish 1/5th of the given work in 2 days.

a alone can complete the whole work in 10 days

Step-by-step explanation:

in two days a b and c together can finish 1/2 of a work

=> a + b + c  together 2 day work  = 1/2

=> a + b + c  together 1 day work  = 1/4

in another 2 days b and c together can finish 3/10 part of the work

=>  b + c  together 2 day work  = 3/10

=>  b + c  together 1 day work  = 3/20

a's 1 day work =  a + b + c  together 1 day work   -  b + c  together 1 day work

=> a's 1 day work =  1/4 - 3/20  = (5 - 3)/20 = 2/20  = 1/10

=> a alone can complete the whole work in 10 days

Remaining Work  = 1 - 1/2 - 3/10  =  (10 - 5 - 3)/10  = 2/10

and remaining work in 2 days
