if you manage to set your composition aside,you are free to write whatever comes in your mind after you read the "topic" or the creative side you're trying to approach..

forgetting about facts (if the story is frictional) can help the story to get more interesting...you can later on change anything you want but by setting your composition in your mind while you are trying to focus on the creativeness of the plot can mess up your mind...or even ideas!...

therefore, setting your composition aside for a time could be helpful in the creative process..
