In two well-developed Spanish paragraphs (4-6 sentences each), write a brief biography of a Famous Latino/a.

You will be graded on (1) evidence of research conducted, (2) appropriateness of response, and (3) overall quality of your response.

In paragraph one describe where your person is from, and what line of work they do/did.
Include interesting details about the person's life and events that the person has/had experienced that are significant.
Give a time frame of when these events occur.

In paragraph two describe his/her important contributions to their country, to Spanish speaking culture, their career, etc.
What made this person famous or historical?
Why do they stand out above all the others? What was noteworthy?
If this person created something (art, music, legislation, literature), what are your thoughts about a particular work?
If this person liberated or fought for something, what is one question you may want to ask them?

You may use outside sources (Internet, books, magazines, etc.) to gather information for this assignment. However, be sure not to copy the information directly from those sources. Copying information and presenting it as your own work is considered plagiarism and will result in a failing grade. You will need to rephrase the information into your own words and cite the source of the information you used. Use the knowledge you have to build on your skills.

There are so many people out there dying from hunger and disease, yet we are more concerned about future advancements. We are leaving these people behind as we attempt to forget and move on. Billions of dollars are poured into space research by large companies each year. If the money spent on space exploration was used to benefit the needy and not the greedy, the suffering of millions of people could be alleviated. BEATRICE- The challenge of exploring space is a source of inspiration for many people. For thousands of years we have been dreaming of the heavens, longing to reach out and touch the stars, longing to communicate with something we only imagine could exist , longing to know...Are we alone? Space exploration is a metaphor for learning, and learning is what drives our world. While realists continue to remind us of our current problems, dreamers stretch our minds. It is the dreamers’ visions, hopes and desires that will lead us into the future. DIETER- Space exploration strengthens the dangerous belief that human problems can be solved by our ever- increasing domination of the environment. Human beings will continue to feel at liberty to abuse natural resources like rivers and rainforests if we know there is always another planet around the corner waiting to be exploited. We have done enough damage on earth. We should leave outer space alone.
