In Vander Waal’s equation (P + a/V2 ) (V- b) = RT, where the symbol P is pressure, V is volume, R is  universal gas constant and T is temperature. What are the dimensions of constants a and b?

Answer:

a=PV^2

P=[ML^-1T^-2] and V=[L^3]

so, a= [ML^-1T^-2] *[L^3]^2

a=[ML^-5T^-2]

And, b=V=[L^3]
