Given : vessel A mixture ,petrol and kerosene oil are in the ratio of 7:5

vessel B it is in the ratio of 8:5.

P liter of mixture from vessel A and Q liter of mixture from vessel B are taken out and poured into vessel C

vessel C contain 150 liter mixture with 40% kerosene oil

To Find : value of P/Q

Solution:

vessel A mixture ,petrol and kerosene oil are in the ratio of 7:5

P liter of mixture from vessel A

=> Petrol = (7/12)P

  Kerosene = (5/12)P

vessel B mixture ,petrol and kerosene oil are in the ratio of 8:5

Q liter of mixture from vessel B

=> Petrol = (8/13)Q

  Kerosene = (5/13)Q

Petrol = 7P/12 +  8Q/13     =   (91P + 96Q)/156

  Kerosene = 5P/12 +  5Q/13     =   (65P + 60Q)/156

vessel C contain 150 liter mixture with 40% kerosene oil

P + Q  = 150

40% kerosene oil  = (40/100)150 = 60  litre

(65P + 60Q)/156  = 60

=>  (13P + 12Q)/156  = 12

=> 13P + 12Q  = 1,872

      P + Q  =  150

=> P = 72

  Q = 78

P/Q = 72/78   = 12/13

value of P/Q = 12/13
