In Victorian Britain demand of labour was seasonal as offer work for was only during the winter season when most of the ships were docked and it was time for Christmas.
1. As the ships came back from their long voyages during the winter the ships needed repairing which was done during the cold season and offers a lot of jobs.
2. As the season for holidays came it also recruited many people for jobs at bakeries to prepare cakes and cookies for the holiday season and also in gift centres for making various types of gifts.
