If inter auricular septum or inter ventricular septum or inter auriculo ventricular septum is not present deoxygenated blood present in the right side get mixed with oxygenated blood which is present on the left side of the heart, which leads to less oxygen supply to the cells, under oxygen deficient condition cells will not function normally and may not perform the activities normally. Birds and mammals require efficient supply of oxygen to all the cells constantly for the normal functioning of the cells, so septums are essential for efficient supply of pure oxygenated blood to all the cells.
