The narrator was quite a traditional man who observed the cultural rites and traditions. He takes a dig at the present day boys who don’t practice traditions rightly. For example, when they do namaskar, they just make a mockery of it. They just hold their head up towards the sun, standing stiff like a pole without joints, bending their body as if it was either a wand or a walking stick.
The narrator admired Ranga’s style of namaskar. He not only folded his hands, but bent low to touch his feet also.
