Indian secularism does not strictly separate State from religion but a principled distance is maintained. Interference in religion by the state is based on the ideals enshrined in Constitution. These ideals help us to know whether the state is working according to Constitution or not.
The Indian constitution provides certain Fundamental Rights to prevent religious dominations. These rights are sometimes violated. The state provides constitutional mechanism to prevent this.
