in what direction does an applied force move an object?

If work done is positive then force will be in the direction of displacement or distance.
If work done is negative then force will be in opposite direction of displacement or distance.

if the workdone acts in forward direction then forward and if backward the it will move backward.
if force is applied from both the directions then it will in the direction in which more force is applied.the best eg:is pulling the rope in the direction the more force it moves towards it.
