An intellectually immature person uses their intelligence (or the at least the appearance of it) for selfish reasons. Things like money, recognition, winning awards, selling books, attracting the attention of the powerful (etc.) are not incidental events to them. They’re their main goals. They feel threatened by people who understand things better than they do. They don’t like sharing trade secrets that could benefit others if such would jeopardize their ability to dominate the market. They pretend to be knowledgeable in matters they aren’t to “save face”. If they captained a ship, they’d rather go down with all hands then admit they told their crew to sail in the wrong direction.
