Let the ratio be k + 1

thus ,

A (-1 , 3 ) B (4 , 8 ) and P (2 , 6)

Therefore P dives line segment AB

By Section formula,

coordinates of P are

P(-K + 4 /k +1, 3k + 8 / k +1 )

but -k + 4 / k +1 = 2

- k + 4 = 2k +2

2 = 3k

Therefore k = 2/3

Therefore ratio is 2 : 3
