Answer:

ratio= y-y1/y2-y

here

y=-1

y1= -3

y2 = 2

ratio =-1 - (-3) / 2- (-1)

=2/3

ratio=2/3

Answer:

Let, P (p, -1) divide the line joining points A (1, -3) & B (1, 2) in ratio m : 1.

Now, p = (m + 1)/(m + 1) & -1 = (2m - 3) / (m + 1)

» p = 1 & 3m = 2

» m = 2/3

Therefore, line is divided in ratio 2/3 : 1

i.e. 2 : 3 and p = 1.
