in what ratio does the point (4,4) divide the line segment joining the point (-1, -1) & (7,7)​

let the point cut the line in ratio ∆:1 then..

4=(7∆-1)/(∆+1)

4∆+4=7∆-1

3∆=5

∆=5/3

hence the point (4,4) cuts the line from the point (-1,-1) in ratio 5:3
