AnswEr :

(-2,4)________(0,Y)____________ ( 4,5)

Let the line segment joining the points A(-2,4) & B (4,5) is divided by Y - axis at point P into k : 1.

By using the section Formula : -25

=> M1x2 + M2x1 , M2y1 +M1y2

M1+M2 M1+ M1

=> P(Y,0) =k(4)+1(5) /k+1, 1(4)+k(5) /k+1

=> P(Y,0) = 4k -2/k+1 , 4+5k/k+1

On Comparing=

4k - 2 /k+1 = 0 ______eq(1)

4+5k /k+1=Y ______eq(2)

=> k = -2

Putting the value of k in eq (12)

=> 4+5(-2)

2+1

=> 4 - 10

3

=> -2

Hence ,the line segments joining the points A(-2,4)& B(4,5) is divided by Y- axis at point P into(-2,-2).
