The ratio is 1:1 and the coordinates of point of intersection is (0,3)

Let the ratio of divide be 1:k

First point is P (5,3) , second point is Q (-5,3)

According to the section formula,

(x,y) = ([mx₂+nx₁]/[m+n],[my₂+ny₁]/[m+n])

where  (x,y)  is the coordinate of the point which divides the two points.

(x₁,y₁) is the coordinate of P and (x₂,y₂) is the coordinate of Q.

Putting the respective values, we equate the x-coordinate as

0 = (-5+5k)/(1+k)                             [x-coordinate will be 0 of the point]

⇒ 5k-5 = 0

⇒ 5k = 5

⇒ k = 1

So, the ratio is 1:1

y-coordinate can be equated by putting the value of m and n as 1.

y = ([1*3] + [1*3])/(1+1)

= 6/2

=3

Point of intersection is (0,3)
