In what sense courage is compare with money in the bank

Courage is a great virtue which is found in human beings.   When we deposit money in a bank, we start with a small amount of money which keeps growing.   Similarly we must keep on doing small courageous acts which will give us confidence such as crossing a busy road, helping someone in danger, telling the truth inspite of punishment etc.   Author says that just like withdrawing money from bank balance, we can withdraw courage from our past events to face challenging situations in life.
